Australian Monody

‘Australian Monody’ takes its inspiration from composer Gordon Kerry’s ‘Christchurch Monody’, which receives its world premiere recording on this album. It consists largely of songs composed by Australians along with other music from other nations performed by Australian musicians. The Marais Project are joined by countertenor Russell Harcourt in presenting music by Gordon Kerry, Carl Vine, Alice Chance, Susie Bishop and Michael Nyman. Also included are past greats, Henry Purcell, John Dowland, Marin Marais and Colonial era composer, Isaac Nathan.
